The Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association (DVBIA) is excited to announce the return of the Granville Promenade, taking place every Saturday and Sunday in August. Two blocks of the Granville Entertainment District (GED) will transform into a pedestrian-only passage from 1 PM – 7 PM between Smithe and Helmcken Streets.

With special help from Community Sponsor Telus Mobility, this year’s outdoor festival is free to the public and set to be bigger and better than ever with more live music, street entertainment, patios, art, and markets. Attendees will also get the chance to win daily prizes to Downtown Vancouver businesses.

“After last year’s success, we’re bringing back the Granville Promenade, but this year we’re teaming up with multiple local partners to create an incredible month-long event,” says Nolan Marshall III, President and CEO of the DVBIA. “The Granville Promenade aims to connect the community and downtown businesses to celebrate, rejuvenate, and reimagine Downtown Vancouver’s most historic street. Events like these are critical for the GED’s future and the city’s economic growth.”

Each day of the Granville Promenade will be programmed with a different “theme,” including a Vancouver Mural Festival Street Party on Sunday, August 14th. The takeover will include a packed schedule full of DJs, drag performers, dancers, and markets curated by Public DiscoBye FeliciaTongue Market, and more. Presenting some of Vancouver’s rising musical talent, Locals Lounge will return to the Granville Prom on Sunday, August 28th. Stop by for acoustic acts, full bands, and solo artists representing a multitude of musical genres and cultural influences. Osito Events will make its Promenade debut on Saturday, August 27th with a full day of local underground DJs and producers, as well as live elements like dance performances and hula hoopers. The festival will kick off its first weekend strong with Van Vogue Jam on Saturday, August 6th and TAIWANfest on Sunday, August 7th. On the Saturday, festival attendees should expect voguing workshops, gogo dancing, bizarre costumes, and a ball. On Sunday, TAIWANfest is set to entertain with cultural performances and music, warming you up for its larger event in September.
