Event Details
Lantern City is a Celebration of Lunar New Year across Vancouver. The focus of the event is a series of large artist lanterns commissioned by the Festival that are installed at the VAG Plazas, Granville Island, and Jack Poole Plaza, with Pendulum Gallery joining the festival this year.
Taiwanese-Canadian artist Leanne Lai Hildebrand is the featured artist at Pendulum, with an exhibition of Chigiri-e; an art form that utilizes coloured paper torn and assembled to create images of nature, with the resulting work suggesting a textured watercolour painting. A series of large, suspended lanterns based on these works has also been commissioned by the Festival, and are suspended throughout the gallery area.
