Event Details

Join Spelexilh, Anjeanette Dawson – a traditional wool weaver, knowledge keeper, storyteller, and Indigenous Educator from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation – to make your own wool weaving. In this two-part workshop, you will learn to weave using a loom, while learning about the history of wool weaving, the revival of Squamish wool weaving, and the teachings that go with weaving. All materials provided. No experience required.

You will have ample time in the first two-hour session to set up your loom and learn basic weaving techniques. Anjeanette will demonstrate twining and other techniques she uses to create shawls, blankets, sashes, headbands, and belts. Your loom and woven piece will be securely stored between sessions for finishing at the second session.
