Contemporary Inuit Drawings

We are pleased to present a group of new drawings from Kinngait (Cape Dorset).  Several artists, including Ningiukulu Teevee and Shuvinai Ashoona, have been experimenting with horizontal paper dimensions which has produced interesting new compositions.

This recent trend of long, horizontal drawings has resulted in some exceptional artworks, with artists using the format to create panoramic landscapes like Padloo Samayualie’s Untitled (Boat), depicting a container ship, a once-a-year visitor to many Arctic communities.
