There’s something about sitting in a cafe, sipping a coffee, that’s naturally creative. Surrounded by others who are journalling, sketching, or just discussing things, there always seems to be an air of artistry in the places where people stop for a moment and reflect. That couldn’t be truer than at the following cafes, which feature local art. Guests to each locale get an additional boost of creative inspiration with every cup they order. And seeing as fall is here, there’s no better way to warm up and ignite your next creative spark.

What better way to recharge after wandering Whistler Village than with a bit of coffee and creative contemplation? Moguls is a community favourite due to their frothy lattes, fresh baked goods and walls lined with the work of local artists. As part of Arts Whistler’s We Heart Local Art program, the art on display is always on rotation, and if you see something in particular that speaks to you, you can even take it home, as all pieces are on sale!

An aptly titled arty cafe, this cozy spot’s interior is so filled to the brim with pieces that it might take a few visits before you notice them all. Taking the aesthetic even further, their brunch menu has delicious items named after famous artistic visionaries. Start your day with the Matisse avocado toast, the Monet plate, or the crisped-to-perfection Renoir French toast—who knows, it might be the creative fuel you need to bring on your next big breakthrough!

21611 – 48th Avenue, Langley
With delicious homemade pastries (try the apple fritter), weekly live music and a gift shop that spotlights countless local artists, you could easily spend the entire afternoon at Porter’s. The cafe has become a community mainstay over the years as the Porter name has been on the building for over 100 years! Back then, it was a general store, but to this day, you’ll get a real sense of the old-fashioned country hospitality that makes its atmosphere so warm for guests.
