Originally from Seabird Island, BC, and with roots in the Nlaka’pamux and Stó:lō Nations, Ovila Mailhot represents his culture and community with the ancestral elements of Coast Salish art. In these two animations of the sun and the thunderbird, he expresses traditional teachings through the fluid lenses of movement and memory rooted in the visual heartbeat of his home territory.
