While MirNs at The New Media Gallery in New Westminster is currently booked solid til it wraps up on Aug 1, you owe it to yourself to get on the waitlist. After signing up for it two weeks ago, I was offered no less than five slots and could easily schedule a showing a few days ago.

It’s one of the unusual shows where instead of it being open to interpretation, the show itself interprets you.

As the exhibition’s statement explains, each piece is about technology’s ability to reflect and interpret. Via a handful of worldwide artists, the collection shows the artistry involved in unlikely mediums like
robotics, coding, artificial intelligence, proximity sensors and facial recognition.

It’s a show that must be seen to be understood, as describing the experience would likely be like telling a computer to accurately articulate an emotion. With this type of strict, numbers based perception, it’s best to let the technology speak for itself:
