Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre

One of the top Indigenous gallery-museums in the Lower Mainland, this mountain community centre brings together stunning artwork, inspiring stories, and a fascinating walk through the history of the area. Each exhibit has been wonderfully curated, and the warm tour guides will expand on the details of each piece with their own personal flair and voice.

As if the energy of Downtown Vancouver wasn’t already enough to stir your creativity, the art spots of the town centre will have you curious about what other creative surprises the city has to offer. Here are two of the most visited spots in the community, both a short stroll from each other.

The biggest and one of the longest-running art institutions of the city, there’s always something going on at the VAG! Tours, talks, workshops, family programming…you could spend the afternoon here and still not see everything on offer. Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art

Celebrating the extraordinary diversity of contemporary Indigenous Northwest Coast Art, the Bill Reid Gallery has been a staple of the local art scene since it opened in 2008. With their promotion of expression through local events and at the gallery in the Municipal Hall, this is an arts hub in the truest sense of the words.

Dedicated to collecting, preserving and presenting artworks that are primarily made on paper, the programming here spotlights pieces and collections by local, national, and internationally recognized artists; a mission that began in 1967. Located in a beautiful heritage building in Deer Lake Park, a visit here is not complete without a stroll through the grounds and along the boardwalk.
