City Centre Artist Lodge

The City Centre Artist Lodge occupies the iconic former City Centre Motor Hotel in Mount Pleasant. The building is once again full of energy and life with 79 low-cost, work-only artist spaces that have been filled with intention, prioritizing underrepresented and marginalized individuals.

The City Centre Artist Lodge occupies the iconic former City Centre Motor Hotel in Mount Pleasant. The building is once again full of energy and life with 79 low-cost, work-only artist spaces that have been filled with intention, prioritizing underrepresented and marginalized individuals.

We aim to foster a community among the artists here and strengthen Vancouver’s art scene. Partnerships with arts and entertainment festivals enable us to connect the public to the artists and special events hosted by the Lodge or the individual artists create more opportunities and interest in the Lodge. The low-cost model of these units allows emerging artists to access the community, showcase their work and build their practice.

The murals enveloping both buildings and spreading across the parking lot were curated and produced by Vancouver Mural Festival (VMF) with three local artists- Fiona Ackerman, K.C. Hall, and Joon Lee– creating the beautiful building as you see it today.
